Biology is the study of life. The course begins by covering the fundamental biological concepts related to all living things. In addition to a general introduction to biology, these include cell biology, molecular biology and genetics. The second semester is a continuation of the first by tying the concepts together into the larger picture of ecology, evolution, and physiology.
Biology meets the requirement for graduation and fulfills University of C & CSU Subject Area Requirements under section D of the A-G requirements for application and enrollment.

Assignments/Homework/Grading
Each assignment may be assessed on one or more standard using the following rating scale: 4 (Advanced), 3 (Proficient), 2 (Basic), 1 (Below Basic), 0 (Far Below Basic). Report card grades are calculated as an average of scores, using the following scale:
A = 4.0 3.6
B = 3.5 2.7
C = 2.6 1.8
D = 1.7 0.9
F = 0.8 0.0
Homework and/or classwork are assigned several times a week. Homework may consist of reading, writing, research, or project based assignments. Students are required to keep a homework log in their notebook or daily planner. All homework and class assignments must be turned in on the assigned due date. All assignments given in class will be posted on the new school website, under the correct class.
As the instructor, I reserve the right to give a pop quiz at any time.
I will also be giving a quiz for each chapter and a larger exam for each unit.
It is the responsibility of you, the STUDENT to find out what work/quizzes have been missed and to either complete the work in a timely manner or schedule a make-up quiz.
School Policies
All school policies regarding student attendance and behavior apply to this class. Students are expected to behave in a manner conducive to learning. Students are required to adhere to the school dress code. Students are expected to bring necessary learning materials and assigned textbooks to class each day. Textbooks must be covered and maintained in the condition in which they were issued. Students are responsible for the cost of lost or damaged textbooks.
